- Glycolysis does not require oxygen. It begins the aerobic and anaerobic
process.
- It occurs in the cytoplasm of a cell.
- Glycolysis breaks down glucose into two pyruvate molecules which,
in aerobic conditions, are used in the next step of cellular metabolism,
the Krebs Cycle.
- In addition to the two pyruvate, the net result of glycolysis is
two ATP and two NADH.
